{more about me}

Thanks for checking out my blog! Here’s a little more about me:

I’m Candy. I’ve been a wife since 2001 and a mother since 2006 (she got a sister in 2010). Prior to all of that I was a kid who moved around a lot, finally settling in a small town in Arkansas at the beginning of junior high. I stayed in Arkansas for college at University of the Ozarks where I majored in Theatre and met my husband (but not in that order, actually).

We live in the suburban NW Houston area now and have been here since 2010. We had many addresses before this one, so we are pretty proud to have been here for this long.

Some of the more dramatic points of my life involve ovarian cancer at 15 and surgery while pregnant with my first child.

I’ve been blogging since 2011. I like telling stories and finding the funny and/or the sweet aspects of life. And sometimes I just like to write about whatever I’m thinking about or reading, especially when it seems like something people like me would want to read. Many of my posts are related to parenting but I also write about topics other Gen X moms like me are thinking about right now, such as fashion, working from home, and aging gracefully.

In May 2014 I was part of the Southeast Texas cast of Listen to Your Mother. I shared a personal story about how I became a mother. You can watch it here:
