Chasing Spring in a Shirtdress

Spring has to arrive sometime, right? It’s been so rainy and dreary here in Houston lately it’s hard to believe it’s March.

But I’m putting mind over matter with a great spring look from J.Jill.

Dresses and skirts are my go-to pieces when I want to look nice but feel comfortable. Dresses and jewelry are the biggest wardrobe hacks you can do; both immediately make you look like you got dressed on purpose yet take very little effort.

Totally the case with the JJill live in chino tab sleeve shirtdress – I felt dressed up as soon as I put it on but still felt completely comfy.

I paired the dress with the JJill color blocked paisley scarf and my own Chelsea Row jewelry because accessories add interest and movement to any look. You can always rely on scarves to add a splash of color and pattern, which stretches your wardrobe. Gold-toned jewelry is my favorite right now; it warms up any skin tone.

I love how a pointy-toe flat can dress up an outfit, too. I especially love the color of these JJill dOrsay flats — they also bring warmth, at least in tone. It’d be great if the sun could come back to Houston to provide warmth in temperature…

The other thing I love about this dress is I can easily pair it with my trusty Chucks and a denim jacket for my daily errands.

What’s your go-to item for Spring?

Thanks to J.Jill for the clothes featured in this post. The jewelry is from my former Chelsea Row boutique. Chelsea Row is no longer in business.
